Honolulu, Hawaii--Greetings Friends! Anakbayan Honolulu stands
in Solidarity with our Okinawan sisters and brothers in their valiant
struggles against U.S. military base expansion. The Philippines and
the Filipino people are no strangers to U.S. and Japanese militaristic
aggression, and we understand ultimately that our adversaries, whether
they be in Okinawa, Hawaii, or the Philippines, are one and the same.
Like the Okinawans, the Filipino people have a proud history of
resistance to American and Japanese imperialism that spans bloody
generations.
Anakbayan Honolulu denounces racial discrimination against Okinawans in
any shape or form. The Japanese and the United States governments must
be made to understand that they are only visitors and setters
upon your gorgeous island, that the indigenous peoples of Okinawa
are its rightful rulers, and as such should be accorded the highest
respect as citizens of their own sovereign nation and nothing less.
Anakbayan Honolulu also decries the massive pollution and environmental
degradation such expansion will create in the beautiful island nation of
Okinawa. We also face similar issues here in Hawaii, where
overpopulation and military expansion has already strained many native
ecosystems to the point of collapse. As residents of an island nation
ourselves, we recognize the importance of having clean air, rivers, and
oceans to sustain the livelihoods and health of the families in our
communities.
Anakbayan Honolulu is inspired by the Okinawan organizers' continued
commitment towards active resistance at the grassroots level. A
victory against U.S. Imperialsm in Okinawa is a victory for oppressed
peoples everywhere. Anakbayan Honolulu urges the courageous Okinawan
activists and organizers on with a vigorous Filipino chant: /Makibaka!
Huwag Matakot!, /which means: "Struggle On! Have No Fear!" We wish
for you strength in your battles at Henoko and Oura Bays and we shall
pray for your victories there. Remember as you struggle comrades that
we are struggling with you. Always remember that " /Where there is

Mです。辺野古に来ています。天気は曇一時雨。少し肌寒いです。今日の阻止行動は浜での七時のミーティングを経て始まりました。昨日県が調査許可を出してしまったので、九時現在は海上保安庁船、防衛施設庁の警戒船並びに作業船は目視出来るだけで30隻近く海にでて同時に幾つかのポイントを「調査」する暴挙に至っています。背後にはキャンプシュワブからの射撃訓練の音、頭上からは海上保安庁のヘリのプロペラの破擦音が聞こえます。双眼鏡のレンズの向こうに今抵抗運動が展開されています。
